People Session Tips
Classic: Timeless style, chinos, khakis, beige and blues, natural hues, pastels, shirts, and simple dresses.
Colors: Keep them complementary instead of completely matching (e.g., all white shirts and blue jeans). Avoid stark contrasts such as green and orange/red, yellows and purples. Complementary colors are more like warm tones (yellows, oranges, pinks, warm red, and even warm greens) and cool tones (blues, purples, greens). But an explosion of bright colors could also work, although I’d shoot it on a plain background or setting.
Consistency: Avoid extreme differences (e.g., one person is wearing a casual knitted chunky sweater and the other is wearing a nice silky dress). It can be quite jarring. Black and white is another combination.
Dark, light, and bright: Darks for adults, and lights or brights for small children. Do it the other way, and the adults will dominate the scene and draw the viewer’s attention, while the smaller people will disappear.
Pet Session Tips
*Make sure to bring your pet's favorite treat and toys.
*If we are doing a photoshoot outside, make sure you bring water for yourself and your pet.
*Dog collars are better than harnesses if possible.

I appreciate your interest in a photo session with Ilene Greenlaw Photography. I offer a one-of-a-kind, custom portrait experience from start to finish. I will help you plan the perfect session to capture your family’s precious moments and save them as an heirloom to be enjoyed for generations to come. I want you to know a few essential details to make this experience go smoothly for both of us.
Once you book a session with me, I will send you a welcome email with additional information. I will arrange a phone session with you to plan the best experience.
Regarding my fee, I will need a small deposit to help reserve your appointment. You will be required to pay the balance at least two days before your photoshoot.
Please allow at least five days to view the semi-edited images, depending on the number of photos I take. Once they are ready, I will give you a link to your gallery so you can view and select the images you wish. After receiving the selected JPEG numbers from you, I will edit the photos you chose and email the link to a new gallery so you can download them.

Once you’ve made up your mind, complete the form found on my website, and I will get back to you as soon as possible with a questionnaire and additional information.

Meet up
So everyone feels comfortable and accustomed to each other, we’ll have a quick call to discuss things and plan everything ( date, time, location, outfits, props, etc.). After our meeting, I will send a contract and invoice. I will need the signed contract and the retainer as soon as possible. Once I receive both things, your time slot is set.
03.
Picture time
The big day! We’ll meet, talk, connect, and get to know each other. In the meantime, I will be preparing the equipment so we can jump right into it.
04.
Delivering photos
In one or two weeks, you will receive a link to your personal edited pictures, to see yourself in all your natural glory. You will be able to choose the images you wish to keep. Once I receive that, I will set up a new gallery with just those images. The images will be free of a watermark and in high resolution, so that you can download them.
